Social representations of Senegalese migrants in Buenos Aires (1995-2014)
Main Article Content
Abstract
This article analyzes the construction of social representations produced by Senegalese migrants who arrived in the Autonomous City of Buenos Aires (CABA) between 1995 and 2014 about the host society. To this end, it characterizes the migrant group, the conditions in which they left their country of origin and the “objective” conditions of reception the city offers. Then analyzes the strategies used to overcome the difficulties they encounter; lastly, it studies the representations, divided into two tropes, “cultural differences” and “discrimination-racism”.
