Abstract

THE ARTICLE STUDIES THE RELATIONS BETWEEN ECONOMY AND LOVE IN CONTEMPORARY COMPLEX SOCIETIES, THROUGH THE RECONSTRUCTION OF THE DEBATE BETWEEN CRITICAL THEORY AND CULTURAL STUDIES, WHICH SHOW THAT ROMANTICISM IS CURRENTLY REDUCED TO THE CONSUMPTION OF CULTURAL ASSETS AND ROMANTIC RITUALS. TO COUNTER THIS ARGUMENT, THE AUTHOR ATTEMPTS TO PROVIDE A MICRO-SOCIOLOGICAL INTERPRETATION OF ROMANTIC LOVE, SEEN HERE AS A PARTICULAR FORM OF COMMUNICATION THAT HIGHLIGHTS AND SEPARATES LOVERS FROM THEIR ENVIRONMENT.
