La perspectiva sociológica sobre la racionalidad y la desigualdad educativa
Resumen
En este artículo se presenta una síntesis del enfoque sociológico racionalista utilizado para explicar las desigualdades educativas, enfoque cuya flexibilidad lo aleja del utilitarismo clásico. Especial atención se dedica a la propuesta de Breen y Goldthorpe, y se exponen las pruebas y críticas a que ha sido sometida. Finalmente, se ofrecen elementos para una propuesta de integración entre componentes racionales y valorativos/culturales de las decisiones educativas, así como para adaptar esta propuesta a la situación social, institucional y educativa de América Latina.
