Abstract
This article analyzes changes in how waste sorting activity was problematized in Buenos Aires during different historical moments. Focusing on two end - of - the - century periods, we aim to show that the way this activity is socially perceived can be associated with the characteristics of other two central problems of urban life: work
and urban waste. The analysis is based on the survey and systematization of documents covering a multiplicity of heterogeneous discourses (journalistic, academic, governmental, artistic, etc.) of the studied periods.
