Transformation and concentration in groups of economic power in Costa Rica (1980-2012)

Abstract
This paper analyzes the main changessuffered by the economic power groups (epg) in the last three decades. The paper also discusses therelations with the State since the civil war of 1948, as well as the changes and transformations experienced by these groups in times of trade openness and liberalization. It inquires about the impacts of openness on the financial sector and banking. Finally, it analyzes the consequence of the “buying and selling” of different EPG in the last decade.
