Abstract

This text reviews Elinor Ostrom’s work, taking into account the paradigmatic breaks in it and suggesting that her central contribution was to construct a broad frame of reference for analysis. With the help of quotations from the author, it depicts the development of her thought and proposals. It analyzes the influence of various authors, including DouglassNorth, Oliver Williamson and Vincent Ostrom, on the evolution of the concepts.

Gustavo Gordillo de Anda, Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México

Promotor de organizaciones campesinas, funcionario público y autor de más de 20 libros sobre política agropecuaria, desarrollo regional y acción colectiva. Trabajó con Elinor y Vincent Ostrom en Bloomington, Indiana, de 2006 a 2009.
