Predictors associated with variations in occupational prestige among university students in Chile
Main Article Content
Abstract
Occupational prestige can be seen as a representation of implicit societal values and a significant indicator of the overall appraisal of occupations. This paper presents a first attempt to measure the different levels of occupationalprestige associated with the main occupations present in Chile, and to explore the relationship between these assessments and socioeconomic variables, which can affect the rating given to those occupations. The statistical linear regression analysis allowed us to establish an optimal multivariate model for the dependent variable, consisting of the following independent variables: average salary and years of study.
