Women and democracy: What prevents women’s participation projects?
Main Article Content
Abstract
The institutionalization of equality projects and the social progress promoted by the feminist movement explain why there are increasing
numbers of women willing to implement their participation projects. However, barriers to inclusive, egalitarian participation persist. This article explores the elements that condition women’s participation projects by analyzing the biographies of 42 women involved in 15 participatory
democracy procedures in the Basque Country (Spain) between 1978 and 2014.
