Social accountability, non governmental human rights organizations and political conflict in Colombia, 2002-2010

Abstract
This paper analyzes the politicalprocess that occurred in Colombia with the mobilization of the most important nongovern-mental human rights organizations and their opposition to the Álvaro Uribe government (2002-2010). The author argues that this process generated a political conflict that created social accountability mechanisms defending the basic principles of the rule of law and human rights and exercising political control.
