Main Article Content
Abstract
The main purpose of this article is to use a documentary and historiographical analysis to reconstruct the ambitious publishing project of the Diccionario de Ciencias Sociales in Spanish, sponsored by unesco and published in 1975. Specifically, it studies the dilemmas, plots and tensions of an intellectual enterprise that lasted for over 20 years and exemplified the institutionalization of sociology and the social sciences in Latin America and Spain. This article also helps one to reflect on the degree of autonomy and identity of Latin American sociological thought.
